Enhanced Missile System Delivers Precision and Range
Individual Flight Missions for Each Rocket
The Russian military has unveiled an upgraded version of its Tornado-S 9K515 multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), boasting significant enhancements. The system has been equipped with the GLONASS satellite navigation system, allowing for greater precision in targeting and improved range.
The Tornado-S 9K515 is a modernized version of the BM-30 Smerch 300mm MLRS. The upgraded system features 12 missiles with a diameter of 300mm, each capable of carrying an individual flight mission. This allows for greater flexibility and accuracy in targeting compared to traditional MLRS systems.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the upgraded Tornado-S MLRS has been enhanced with a number of features, including:
- GLONASS satellite navigation for improved accuracy and range
- Individual flight missions for each rocket
- Increased firing range of up to 120 kilometers
- Improved guidance and control systems
The upgraded Tornado-S MLRS is expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of the Russian military, providing greater precision, range, and flexibility in artillery support operations.
